About

With the Port of Lewiston 365 miles inland, all major modes of transportation are available to Port shippers to route their products globally and still remain competitive in the marketplace.

Water
Barge companies provide scheduled service to tow container barges between the Port of Portland and the Port of Lewiston.  They navigate through the eight dams and navigation locks on the Snake and Columbia Rivers.  Tugs move 4-5 barges together through the locks; each barge holds 80-160 TEUs.  Barging time to Portland from Lewiston is approximately 50 hours.

Roads
The Port’s location next to US Highway 12 allows to direct link to markets in Montana, while Port’s proximity to US Highway 95 allows for links to Boise, Idaho, and US-84 to the South, and Spokane, Washington and US-90 to the North.

Rail
A feeder line of the Great Northwest Railroad provides the Port with a direct link to the main lines of the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads.

Air
Air transportation is available at the Nez Perce County Regional Airport located two miles from the Port.
