Lewis-Clark Valley

465 river miles inland and at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers lies Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington, named to honor the encampment of Lewis & Clark's Corp of Discovery during their journey to the Pacific Ocean.

Today, Lewiston and Clarkston are known as the gateway to Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. Many don't know that the Snake River created Hells Canyon, North America's deepest gorge. You can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the canyon on one of the region's regular boat tours, experience the thrill of whitewater rafting or jet boating, or view the myriad of wildlife, geological and historical sites along the canyon walls and shores of this national destination.

Both residents and visitors enjoy the amenities of this regional commercial center for north central Idaho, eastern Oregon and southeast Washington. Although the Snake River divides the two states, bridges over the Snake and Clearwater Rivers allow easy access to both communities, which offer their own state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, public school districts, hotel/convention facilities, industrial sites, shopping districts and full public services. Additionally, there is one state college and one community college locally, and two universities within a 45-minute drive.

Known as the "Banana Belt of the Pacific Northwest," the mild weather in the Valley offers extensive year-round outdoor activities such as golf, fishing, strolling the miles of riverfront levee pathways, beaches, RV and waterfront parks, and the ongoing planned community events.
